Different Types of Cosmetic Surgery
It’s a little known fact, but there are actually over one hundred different types of cosmetic surgery available to the general public. Many of these surgeries were limited to the rich and famous in the past, but with recent medical advances and newer technologies – every surgery is now accessible. Each type of surgery provides a particular benefit, and here’s a look at some of the most common and what they do.
Botox
One of the most popular surgeries in the United States, the UK and Australia; Botox involves the tightening and strengthening of muscles and tissue under the dermal layer of facial skin. It does involve a chemical injection, and once the formula is present within the skin, it acts to plump and tighten the tissue and muscle underneath – removing even the most extensive wrinkles and age lines.
Chemical Peel
This type of surgery could be considered external, and as its name would suggest – it involves the use of chemicals. The formula is applied directly to the skin, allowed to sit temporarily, and then removed. During removal, it will lift away all dead skin cells to reveal a fresh, replenished complexion that defies the years.
Laser Hair Removal
All adults have hairs that cover the entirety of their bodies, barring the soles of their feet, their lips, and the palms of their hands. It’s not uncommon for people to want to remove hairs from a particular location of their body; for example from their face, neck, armpits, arms, legs and even the genital region. The procedure involves a high-intensity laser being exposed to hair follicles and pores, with the intention of destroying the cells at the base so that hair stops growing in that area.
Rhinoplasty
As one of the oldest types of surgery, Rhinoplasty has seen extensive leaps in medical application over the past decade. The surgery involves modifying the nose structure, and it is considered intrusive surgery (albeit on a minor scale). The surgery also requires a minor healing period – typically a few weeks.
Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck, also referred to as an abdomen reduction, is an intrusive surgery that involves incisions being made in to the stomach area. Once those incisions have been made, a surgeon can cut in to excess layers of fat, remove them, and then fasten the stomach. The result is often a flatter stomach with less fat.
Breast Implants
Up until recently, the processes involved in breast implantations were considered fairly basic. Nowadays, surgeons specialize in this procedure and it now boasts a success rate over 90%. The process involves an incision being made under each breast, and then a silicone implant can be placed within the tissue. The healing process takes up to a few weeks, and the scarring is normally permanent, but a good surgeon will be able to minimize the appearance of these scars.
