Treatment options for Skin Cancer
Treatment options for skin cancer vary, depending on the type of skin cancer and its stage. Some skin cancers are curable and can be completely removed with surgery, while others require other treatments. The type of treatment required will depend on the type of skin cancer, its location and the patient’s general health. One such treatment is chemotherapy, which is a process of using anti-cancer drugs to destroy cancer cells.
Early detection is key to successfully treating skin cancer. Melanomas and basal cell carcinoma rarely spread to other parts of the body and the five-year survival rate for patients with early-stage melanomas is over 99 percent.
